Mercury Retrograde Reminder ~ 3 Oct. 2014

Within the next day, Mercury does it’s every 115.88 day cycle thing, heading toward alignment between the Earth and Sun, meaning he’s going retrograde. So this is just a reminder of the arrival of the roughly three-week block of the embellished dreaded fears of short distance trip snafus, communication breakdowns, strange mercantile matters, pickpockets and other things mercurial. The usual communication/scheduling precautions should be in place until October 25th, you know - editing, reviewing, thinking before speaking, posting on social meeting in word and photo.

At the midpoint of every retrograde, Mercury stands with the Sun and the Earth in a direct line. Despite Mercury’s retrograde nefarious reputation, on midpoint day, communication can be amazingly wonderful. So get ready to pitch your head off with any good thing you seek to put into the collective.

Here’s another very important idea to carry through Mercury retrograde: it is trumped by other more potent transits. If you have Jupiter transiting anything in your chart, do Jupiter in the best carpe diem manner that you can. Should Saturn trine your Venus or fit into to some other mind-boggling configuration that implies progress, move forward and seize the planetary support.

We have a lunar eclipse on the 8th of October. In Aries (15 Ar 05), this blocking of the Sun puts emotional reactions and the subconscious in charge of life priorities for the next two weeks. Given the eclipse degree forms a trine to Jupiter in Leo and occurs very near Uranus in Aries, it’s a great time to be clearheaded, high-minded, brave, courageous and bold. Speak your truth without forcing it on others. Get rid of cranky, competitive and resentful. Forget what everybody else is doing. Replace it with affirming, self-enriching confidence and put your attention on getting what you require.

On the 23rd of October a solar eclipse follows and weighs in at 0 Scorpio 25. Expect emotional intensity to run significantly higher than average and compete with life’s logic factors when it comes to decision-making. The ultimate Scorpio bottom line here: engage only in things that have well-intended purpose and that feed your soul. And when engaging, engage with full gusto and soul-enriched passion.

In the spirit of interesting tidbits, Pluto is once again a planet. The esteemed Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory hosted a debate on the International Astronomical Union’s position on planetary definition - the one that demoted Pluto. After three astronomers debated, the public audience in attendance eagerly voted on the definitions and considerations presented. They agreed on one definition of Pluto’s status, which confirms he is a planet. Of course, astrologers and those enduring Pluto’s persuasions never lost faith in the impact of the Kuiper Belt-based planet.

Happy Mercury Retro and here’s to potent, enlivening eclipses. Oh, and one more tidbit to honor Mercury... Astronomers recently reported that earlier this year we received a potent energy flare from a star sixty light years away and its effect was notable! It’s a big universe out there and it’s not just the planets in our solar system impacting our psyches (hint: Galactic Trilogy CD).
